Podcasting in Australia continues to thrive, with listenership surging 15.9% over the past two years, according to the 2025 Australian Podcast Annual released by Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) in partnership with Triton Digital.
Younger audiences are driving this momentum, with 72% of Australians aged 18-34 consuming podcasts in the past month, followed by 55% of those aged 35-54 and 25% of listeners aged 55+. Smartphones dominate, with 95.4% of podcast consumption happening via mobile devices, cementing podcasting as an essential on-the-go medium.
When it comes to content, News, Society & Culture and True Crime remain top-performing genres, with Sports making its debut in the top tier this year.
As podcasting continues to evolve, it presents unmatched opportunities for advertisers—offering highly engaged audiences, deep storytelling, and measurable impact.
