Commercial Radio & Audio (CRA) has welcomed the latest GfK Survey 8, 2025 results, with commercial radio reaching 12.4 million Australians weekly. Since mid-2022, through a post-COVID media landscape, commercial radio has sustained audiences exceeding 12 million.
"The consistency, innovation, and value commercial radio provides brands is unmatched by any other media channel and it's exactly what advertisers need. Since mid-2022, we've delivered audiences of more than 12 million continuously. It's reliable, meaningful reach that brands can count on," said Lizzie Young, CEO of CRA.
Commercial radio's performance reflects broader industry momentum. Deloitte's 2025 Media & Entertainment Consumer Insights Report confirms audio is Australia's only media category to see significant growth, now commanding 28% of digital entertainment consumption.
The shift to an audio everywhere approach is transforming how audiences consume content. Listeners move seamlessly between platforms such as AM/FM/DAB+/streaming - engaging on their terms: at home, in the car, at work, on the move and on demand. Commercial radio and its members have invested in enabling this flexibility, with recent enhancements to distribution strategies and innovation such as the CRA Audio ID making these audiences easier to buy and delivering the precision, transparency and efficiency marketers require.
Radio's effectiveness against other channels is well documented: for every dollar invested in radio, brands see two dollars back - second only to social, while outperforming video, TV, OOH, search and CTV.2
"Beyond reach and effectiveness, what makes commercial radio uniquely powerful is the industry's agility and creativity. Brands can leverage on-air talent who forge genuine connections with audiences, creative production teams who tailor everything to ensure it’s 'made for audio,' and event teams who deliver memorable brand experiences. It's expertise that translates directly into maximised ROI, proving exactly why audio is more powerful than you think," added Young.
